Presently Elsewhere

Description

We coexist by mentally exiting – sharing space while inhabiting different worlds. Presently Elsewhere works from inside this condition. Made on the streets of Dublin, at the distance where strangers actually negotiate one another, each photograph is an encounter already beginning to dissolve: a present tense that cannot hold itself steady.

Others register as mass and trajectory, sensed just long enough to adjust course before attention retreats inward. The photographs arise from that threshold – momentary alertness, then withdrawal – and the camera remains implicated in it. A turned head or a change of direction might signal recognition, avoidance, or nothing more than the ordinary adjustments of passing through a crowd. The work does not resolve this tension between connection and isolation; it inhabits it.
